|Taking care of my hair the right way :)|
Everyone wants long, luscious hair but no one knows how to get it fast. To make it easier for you, here is a step-by-step how-to on getting long, thick, beautiful locks! If you find you hair thinning or receding, it might be worth talking to a hair growth specialist such as Transitions Hair – they can provide a more specialised solution to give you more length and volume.
Dead ends must go
Once a hair has split at the end, there’s no bringing it back – the end is well and truly dead. The only thing to do is to chop it off. Chop split ends off as soon as they appear. If you don’t the split will rise further and further up the hair, meaning you’ll need to chop more off. Get rid of them ASAP to avoid chopping off half your length!
It sounds weird – you’d think you’d need to wash your hair more but that is certainly not the case! Washing your hair too often will strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving it dry and damaged. Use dry shampoo if you have oily hair that needs to be washed more often. Massage your scalp to increase blood circulation when you do wash your hair – this stimulates hair growth.
Always condition. Enough said.
Natural hair oil
Thoroughly massage oils into the ends of your hair after washing it – it keeps them nice and healthy to avoid breakage. Be careful not to get it in your roots, or your hair will feel very oily and need washing again.
Don’t brush when wet
You should really only brush your hair when it’s dry. Some people don’t like to brush their hair when it’s dry because brushing causes it to go frizzy. The best way to get around this is to comb your hair with a very wide-toothed comb. This avoids the breakage that comes with the roughness of a normal hair brush.
Avoid heat hair stylers
It sounds difficult, but avoiding hair stylers that use heat – straighteners, curling irons and blow dryers – is important. While great for styling, these products dry out and burn your hair, which leads to split and dead ends. Use heat protective spray thoroughly if you simply must use them – it might be a special occasions or might honestly just be having a really bad hair day. It’s worth the sacrifice to have your hair grow long and healthy!
Wash your hair after swimming
Letting chlorine and saltwater sit in your hair for too long can be really damaging. It can also discolour your hair greatly if it is dyed (especially bleached). After you’ve been for a dip in the pool or a quick day trip to the beach, be sure to wash your hair as soon as you get home!
Healthy diet and lots of water
A healthy diet and drinking lots of water is definitely the key to maintaining long, healthy, luscious hair. Keep your diet healthy and you’ll have long hair in no time!
Helping your hair to grow can be difficult, but it definitely isn't impossible. Spend a month paying special attention to your hair care regime. You never know how much it will help!
